Our Tennessee Treeing Brindle loves this puzzle toy! Not only can you increase difficulty by adding or taking away the white bone covers, but you can also use any treat/reward you want. We use a mix of meat, peanut butter, and cheese. The peanut butter seems to legnthen the time our Luna plays with it, since it takes a little longer to lick it out. **Bonus, you can also slather peanut butter inside the tops of the white bone pieces. An awesome way to give your pup more to look for. Very sturdy, but easy to disassemble and clean. We added small rope to the bone pieces for our Pug Daschund mix making it easier for her to pick them up.
One of our three cats loves this treat toy. She has no trouble at all clearing out all the treats without the little bone pieces in, and she can get the bone pieces out if she works at it. I put "handles" on a couple of them to help her get them out. The other two cats don't try very hard to work the toy, but one can if he is motivated. Otherwise those two ignore it, or get the treats that are exposed on the opposite side. We mostly use hard treats, but we have also put pate treats and regular cat food in it. Our "smarty-pants" goes crazy for this toy.
This is the perfect way for my puppy to get her breakfast, stay engaged, and do a little mental exertion while I get ready in the morning. I put her kibble and some other goodies in each compartment, and she has to figure out how to get them out. She's a smart cookie, so she gets how to do it, but she's so excited that sometimes she over-spins and over-spins before figuring out when to make it stop at the right point to get her goodies, but that just makes her engaged longer and have more mental stimulation. I love that I can add the bones to make it more difficult. Great toy/slow-eater
This keeps my mini Australian Shepard busy for about 15 minutes with the bone cover used. He gets pretty excited when he sees I’ve filled the puzzle. And he brings the bone cover for an extra treat. Well sometimes. Sometimes he hides the bone outside and I have to go find its like a toy for both of us!! :)
My dog has played with the same toy at my neighbors. So I had to buy one for her. She absolutely loves it! I’m going to order more “bones” to increase difficulty. I highly recommend this product!
